Long I have searched
and put into practice old
methods of capturing time,
seeking retrieval of
history’s breadcrumbs,
the wasting of moments a crime.
There must be a potion,
elixir, concoction! to
whittle some minutes to spare,
sift we through maps of our
memories past, searching
desperately everywhere.
What eludes us humans, through
hurried existence, sworn
purpose and focus our passion?
The second hand marches on
without resistance, time
exempt from capture or ration.
